Hiva Alizadeh

His artwork’s roots are founded in Persian tradition and in its millenary skill of weaving rugs and carpets. Though this artist applies his technique and knowledge using a different material in order to create a contemporary interpretation of a texture and add to it a cosmopolitan and psychic touch. The tapestries woven by Alizadeh are created using synthetic hair extensions, that he composes in vibrant fluorescent colour palettes. The East and the West meet in Alizadeh’s works, generating a complex perceptual texture. Also, this artist takes inspiration from the morphology and colours of the Iranian landscape or the rural region he visits witnessing the nomad’s travel. Such perception of reality is mixed with the sensibility of the pixelated images in use in the digital culture. Another aspect that has influenced this work has to be found in the patterns of mosques stained glasses and the kaleidoscopic reflections that those project on the floors. Many other transfigured elements create a complex imaginary, with sophisticated coloristic weaves. The vaporous strands overlap and intersect, generating rhythms, voices and sounds of which the artist’s perceptive background echoes.

Born in 1989 in Kerman-Iran and lives and works in Tehran.
